RoHS Compliance
Many OEMs must comply with the
new requirements set forth by the European Union regarding the Restriction of
Hazardous Substance in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (ROHS). This
directive, known as ROHS, aims to protect the environment by restricting the use
of certain hazardous substances (including lead) in new equipment. ROHS
requires that from 1 July 2006 new electrical and electronic equipment will not
contain lead, mercury, cadmium, etc.
In compliance with ROHS, and
in an effort for our customers to accommodate their ROHS requirements, AAC has
begun supplying lead free surface mount chip resistors as of September 2004.
The resistor series, CR,CJ, CRN, CT, CTL, and CRL
will be steadily shipped as lead free and the lead containing products will be
phased ou of our standard production). During the interim, you will be able to
differentiate the tin/lead from the lead free by the lot number. All our
parts are still compatible with 260 degree C soldering, and can be ordered using
the lead-free termination code.
Those parts which are lead
free will have a lot number ending in the letter "L." AAC has chose to supply
parts in this manner to reduce the cumbersome task of creating all new part
numbers for lead free products.
